Training and Assessment Requirements Basic Food Safety

This training is suitable for:

People looking to gain employment or working with/selling food at both small & large businesses who require training as part of the Food Act 2014, Food Regulations 2015, and local council Bylaws around New Zealand or Community / Charity / Healthcare teams who simply want to operate to best practice!

  • Language: Training delivery in English. Supported resources (by prior request): Mandarin, Vietnamese, Hindi

Training and assessment process and steps ahead:

On training day

  • Please refresh your learning by viewing the videos reading the support resources/PDFs
  • Follow all instructions and notes and answer all the training and assessment questions once you complete your learning.
  • On training and assessment, completion Food Safe will then update you about your achievement status, give feedback, and explain if any further assessment is required.
  • If you do not Achieve (A) the assessment your status will be Not-Yet-Achieved (NYA).
  • If your status is Not-Yet-Achieved (NYA) the options ahead for you will be clearly explained to you by Food Safe. (All trainees have entitlements including under NZQA sections 235 and 235A of the education act 1989).
  • On achievement and other administration such as payment, Food Safe will provide you or your company (whoever has paid for this training) an achievement certificate.

Duration of training:

The requirements include an expected duration for both the initial and refresher training as follows:

  • For basic food safety training, an estimated 6 hours training, and assessment
  • For refresher training, where the learner’s certificate is no older than three years, an estimated two hours of training and assessment.

Timings:

Auckland Training: 8.30 am – 3 pm
All other centers: 9.30 am – 4 pm

Please note: There is a short break at about 10.15 am. There is a second break of 20 mins at about 12.10 pm for lunch. There is no lunch provided, so if you think you might get hungry around mid-day, you are most welcome to bring along something to munch on at class.

Interaction 
Step 1: Responds using basic expressions; does not initiate a conversation
